So I believe I’ve graduated.

The graduation ceremony isn’t until about May; Sydney University hold their grad ceremonies bizarrely late. So I won’t have the bit of paper for a little while, I don’t think.

But.

Semester has ended, classes are over, grad show came and went (in which my book was exhibited in the Printmedia section). I got the tongue-in-cheek farewells over with. My stuff has been cleared out of the studio. So for all intents and purposes, I suppose I’m more or less a graduate!

Which means I now have the fun task of figuring out what to do with myself next year. Haha.

Gonna start by applying for some jobs in Sydney, but watch this space!

More fan art

Another dump of fan art!

Some more Gerard Way stuff (the last two of which I’ve also put in the Miscellaneous Drawings gallery):

A fanwork I drew after seeing Catching Fire in the cinema (inspired by the lyrics from Lorde’s song for the film Yellow Flicker Beat):

Another fanwork drawing after seeing Dracula Untold in the cinema:

Fan art of a couple of characters from another webcomic I follow called “Dream Keepers” for Halloween:

And last but not least, some Avatar: The Last Airbender fan art for a friend’s birthday. She particularly loves Toph and Zuko as a pairing, so I drew an artwork of them together for her.

Book!!!!!

So I may have just published my first book.

It’s a picture book based on the same kind of theme as my Birds Of Paradise project, based on my memories and experiences growing up in Papua New Guinea and consequently how they’ve affected me as an adult.

It’s designed to look/read like a children’s picture book, but it’s probably not really appropriate for kids. No NSFW content or anything, it’s just that the subject matter gets a little bit dark and maaaybe a little political. It doesn’t really have a happy ending. Might confuse the average kid a bit.

But yeah, you can buy it in hardcover on blurb.com, and I’m working on getting an ebook/pdf version up and running.

So yeah! Check it out! Tell your friends!

Wooo!

Drawings for Friends

Birthday present for one of my close friends; we joke a lot about how she looks like Grumpy Cat, and she told me last year about how she wants someone to paint her portrait professionally, like 1800’s royal paintings. She loves the idea of having a big extravagant “selfie”. This may be only a watercolour sketch, but an attempt was made.

Several of my close friends rented a house together at the start of the year, so I drew the below as a kind of housewarming present. I drew each of them with animal features specific to animals I know they identify with. Technically only three of the subjects rent the house; the fourth girl in the corner just visits all the time, so I included her since she virtually lives there.

Fan Art

I draw a ridiculous amount of fan art. However rather than making a new gallery for what is essentially a form of time-wasting, I think it’s better to just post here when I draw fan art.

Lets start off with some My Chemical Romance fan art.

While we’re at it, here’s some Doctor Who.

And now something a little more obscure, one of my favourite characters from a webcomic called Drowtales, and a fan character of mine designed for the universe.

And yeah, let’s leave it at that for now.
